MARVEL ZOMBIES #1

Out of the pages of Ultimate Fantastic Four comes a story of an Earth whose heroes were infected by a space-born zombie plague. Standing alone against the remaining zombie heroes is Magneto, the once-villainous Master of Magnetism. All hope may seem lost for the lone mutant, but he still has a few tricks up his sleeve. Robert Kirkman, creator of the acclaimed series Invincible and The Walking Dead, has taken Mark Millar’s concept and run with it. Joined by artist Sean Philips, the team delivers a darkly funny, irreverent and downright gory take on the characters of the Marvel Universe. Discuss

How is Bruce’s current love interest tied to the mysterious Hugo Strange? Written and drawn by Matt Wagner, this book has all the trademarks of a great Batman story---mystery, action, suspense---and finds a balance between the superheroic Caped Crusader and the grim Dark Knight Detective. WHAT IF? FEATURING CAPTAIN AMERICA

Last year’s sold-out revival of the old “What If?” concept returns with 6 all-new one-shots, beginning with this time-lost tale of Captain America. Set in the days of the Civil War, a very different Captain America fights for the future of America against the White Skull. Told through the eyes of an altogether different Watcher, all six of this year’s “What If?” tales are set in the same alternate timeline, where little twists of fate have paved a path to a drastically different Marvel Universe. As a team of twisted X-Men lookalikes creates panic on the streets of London, Kitty Pryde and Marvel Girl attempt to save the life of ex-Exile member Nocturne. The critically acclaimed Bat-title may be reaching its grand finale, but it’s sure to end with a bang! Writer Greg Rucka has left the best for last, finally answering the riddle of the mysterious Jim Corrigan. And is it possible this Corrigan is somehow connected to the Spectre of Vengeance? Discuss

MARVEL TEAM-UP #15 cover

MARVEL TEAM-UP #15

It’s fairly obvious that Robert Kirkman has a blast writing this series featuring not only ubiquitous characters such as Spider-Man and Wolverine, but even so-called second tier characters such as Nova and Moon Knight. He seems to take a delightful glee mixing hilariously over-the-top storylines with an array of characters old and new (and even sometimes best left forgotten). Such is the case with "League of Losers", which begins with a bang as a new villain lays waste to the heroes of the Marvel Universe. Avengers? Fantastic Four? X-Men? All are dead, and now it’s up to an all-new legion of heroes to take the reigns and save the world from total annihilation. Almost every character you never thought you’d see again (and some you wish you wouldn’t) will take center stage in a battle to take back the planet! Discuss
