What’s Hot this Week (3/22/2006):
DAREDEVIL #83 cover

DAREDEVIL #83

Ed Brubaker hasn’t missed a beat taking the reigns of the book from Brian Bendis, and you’d barely know the difference. Matt Murdock’s life has gone from grim to just plain desperate in the space of about two issues, what with being put in jail and the death of a major character (we won’t play spoiler for the four of you who don’t know). And in this issue, things really heat up when Dakota North dresses up as Daredevil to take down some drug dealers. Okay, so it’s not Dakota North in a muscle suit, but it can’t be Matt Murdock, begging the question---"Who is Daredevil?"

CATWOMAN #53 cover

CATWOMAN #53

Say it with us---One! Year! Later! Things are very different for Selina Kyle, who is no longer the Catwoman, but instead the proud mother of a screamin’ baby boy! Or girl. It could be either, really, but you’ll have to read to find out. But if Selina’s been busy being pregnant, then who is the new Catwoman stalking the streets? And speaking of Selina being preggers, who is the father? So many questions, so few pages. Hints and misdirection abound!

ARES #3 cover

ARES #3

Ares is perhaps one of the least likable characters to grace the title of a Marvel book since the introduction of the Punisher...or is he? Sure, he’s the God of War, which makes him just a bit on the "short fuse" side, and when he fights, he doesn’t just fight, he spreads carnage like butter on toast. Violence seems to follow him no matter where he goes, but there is one redeeming value to him: he loves his son. He turned his back on godhood to live in man’s world and raise a family. He would do just about anything for his son (which leads back to the whole "bloody violence" bit), and that’s gotta count for something. This issue, find out just how far he’ll go to take back his child, all the while the only thing he ever loved is being tempted into treachery.

SUPERGIRL AND THE LEGION OF SUPER-HEROES #16 cover

SUPERGIRL AND THE LEGION OF SUPER-HEROES #16

One thousand and one years later! After Lightning Lad’s deal with the United Planets, things are definately different for the Legion, but that doesn’t mean it’s easy going for the rebellious youth. And it’s just one crisis after another when the Legion must stop a meteor from smashing Metropolis into tiny burning bits. But none of that compares to the secret of the arrival of Supergirl!

MANHUNTER #20 cover

MANHUNTER #20

It’s One Year Later, and at first glance, things don’t seem so different for Kate Spencer, a.k.a. Manhunter. She’s still hunting the bad guys on her own terms, but her day job is about to get a little hairier. Writer Marc Andreyko continues to intrigue with this story of a super hero who walks the line between light and dark in her quest to bring justice to the criminal world . Featuring returning cast members as well as some familiar characters in not-so-familiar guises, this issue marks a perfect jumping-on point for new readers.

CAPTAIN AMERICA #16 cover

CAPTAIN AMERICA #16

In part one of the two-part "Collision Course", Ed Brubaker gives readers a glimpse into the twisted world of Crossbones and Sin (the Red Skull’s daughter) as the two cut a bloody path through Middle America. It’s up to Captain America and Agent 13 to put a stop to the carnage, but their mission is side-tracked when they learn a certain ex-sidekick may somehow be involved.
