Comics:
Swamp Thing #7
Cryptozoologist Coleman Wadsworth has tracked down almost every strange creature unknown to man, but he may be in over his head when he discovers the Swamp Thing in the Louisiana bayou. After the events of the first story arc, it couldn't be a worse time to meet the creature that was once Alec Holland. Even worse danger lurks around the corner in the form of crypto-game hunter Max Ramhoff, who wants to make a trophy out of the Swamp Thing. The first of two parts, written by Will Pfeifer, with art by horror comics legend Richard Corben.

Avengers #501
The Avengers have always been about a revolving cast of heroes to fill the roster, and this story isn't the first to deal with the Avengers being pushed to the brink of extinction. With these standards in place, writer Brian Michael Bendis is weaving a tale of the Avengers' worst day ever, as the group tackles everything from returning team mates thought dead to gamma-spawned rampages (you've never seen the She-Hulk like this) to androids gone mad! As the dust begins to settle, Captain America and the other remaining Avengers attempt to piece together how it all went wrong. Art by rising star David Finch and Danny Miki.

Firestorm #5
Saying Jason Rusch is in over his head with the power of the Nuclear Man at his disposal is something of an understatement. Did Ronnie Raymond ever have problems quite like this? After discovering horrific new facets to his power, it's all he can do to keep things from falling apart. And keeping secrets from the JLA is only going to spell B-I-G T-R-O-U-B-L-E down the line. Two words, Jason: seek help. Things continue to spiral out of control this issue, brought to you by the mad minds of Dan Jolley and ChrisCross.

Gambit #1
Bored of his life as a costumed adventurer in the ranks of the X-Men, Remy LeBeau returns to New Orleans to stir things up a bit. Whether it's a Sentinel on the loose or a damsel in distress, things are never boring for the Cajun X-Man. Will he be in over his head when he accepts a job stealing a very special deck of cards? Of course he will, and he wouldn't have it any other way! Written by John Layman, with art by Georges Jeanty and Don Hillsman III.

Justice Legue Unlimited #1
In the 70's, we had Super Friends and Challenge of the Super Friends. When you watch the Cartoon Network's Justice League, don't you feel cheated? The newest iteration of the show includes more than the usual "Big Seven", delving into all reaches of the JLA's long comic history for characters. This first issue of the comic companion takes that concept to heart, in a story featuring Captain Atom and Zatanna, as well as more familiar Leaguers Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Flash, and Hawkgirl. A great book for kids, as well as the kid in you!
